π Is The D4D Engine Reliable
Forums. Toyota Forums By Models. Avensis Club. T27 2.0 d4d remap. I have spoken to a vehicle remap company, they have advised me they wonβt remap the car unless they have proof of the egr and inlet manifold cleaned out. As they are notoriously bad for blocking up.
Toyota 2KD-FTV Engine (2.5 D-4D) Engine Problems and Reliability. The 2KD diesel engine can hardly be called extremely dependable. The list of problems extremely comparable to the 1KD has. Till 2011, there was an issue with piston splitting. The piston oil rings are prone to stick and after that cause high oil intake.
Cool, thanks heaps for the info guys, sounds like the 1kz-te is really reliable, although less power than the D4D, i worry about the sensitive injectors on the common rail D4D still thinking and looking around though. Cheers!
The reason why so many owners (and potential owners) will continue to buy this vehicle is durability, reliability and, if they should decide to eventually trade-in, excellent and unbeatable resale value. 2014 represents another milestone in Hilux history; in fact, 45 years of history. Not quite as old as CAR magazine, but close enough!
The D4 and D6 deliver performance outputs of between 150 to 480 hp. In top specification the D4 now has a maximum output of 320 hp, while the D6 in top spec boasts 480 hp. Not only 10% more power across the range, these engines are more fuel efficient β between 0.5% to 7% (in E5 cycle). The list of upgrades is long, including a new engine
The reason why I drive diesel: you can release the clutch and put foot, you don't have to rev the engine the get going, petrol engines have very little torque at low revs, at low speed and farms tracks the petrol is a pain. To service a diesel is much easier, change oil and filters, so mosts services you can do yourself.
Neels, it is still a new motor :). If serviced correctly, it will last for a long time without any problems. Always idle the motor for a minute or two before switching off to give the turbo some time to cool down.
Answered by Honest John. It's a BMW engine, not a Toyota engine. Yes, you picked the wrong car for long distance work. Toyota hybrids are brilliant for town and suburbs and fantastic for taxis; not so great over a 300 mile motorway run, but you should still get 60mpg plus. You're not likely to beat that by much with a diesel, even a BMW diesel.
